What makes us tick

Freedom, passion, responsibility

We are MaibornWolff

Company culture

Our corporate culture is alive. It is shaped by each and every one of us. We have agreed on a cultural core that is binding for all. We have set this down our twelve non-negotiable guiding principles and our Code of Conduct.  Of course, the different areas and locations have their own expressions of our culture. What unites us is the passion for our client projects and the approachable cooperation.

Awarded

Great Place to Work

Our colleagues make us a Great Place to Work. We are delighted to receive this award, which confirms year after year that we are on the right track. However, we are not resting on our laurels, but are working day by day to remain a Great Place to Work.

Freedom and responsibility – an inseparable duo

Simply do

Freedom

We hire people whom we have a lot of confidence in, both professionally and personally. That’s why, from your first day with us, you’ll enjoy plenty of freedom to contribute your skills and ideas and make our client projects even more successful. With us, you can just get on with it – that’s exactly why we brought you into our team.

Experience

Our project teams consist of people with different levels of experience. That gives you a lot of freedom. You can just get on with it with us, have fun and try things out. Of course, mistakes happen from time to time. This is part of the process. We see mistakes as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Responsibility

You take on a lot of responsibility. If that scares you off at first, we can put your mind at ease. Especially at the beginning of your career or when you’re new to us, you only make the decisions you’re comfortable with. You can always count on your colleagues or your manager: Get as much sparring, advice, or support as you need. We will not leave you to fend for yourself. This is another reason why our project teams are always a colorful mix of colleagues with different levels of experience.

Expertise before hierarchy

We do not believe in decision-making hierarchies. Instead, we rely on the person who knows best to decide. And in your project, that’s probably not our managing director, that’s you.

“Everyone treats each other with respect. I was never the working student, but the developer like the others. My opinion counted just as much.”

Get involved

You can not only shape client projects, but also actively shape the company. In addition to the management and partners, our 16-member Management Council also includes eight employees who were elected via a lottery. They add to the board for a maximum of two years. This is where important decisions are discussed and made that affect the entire company. For example, we have put our salary model to the test here and adjusted it.

But we go one step further. Our client projects are demanding and require your skills and commitment. In quieter phases or between projects, you have the freedom to expand on topics that are important to you. In our Culture Clubs, colleagues drive topics such as diversity and inclusion or feedback culture. For us, it is clear that a corporate culture should be shaped by the people who live it every day: by us, and perhaps soon by you. You’ll find like-minded professionals in our Communities of Practice on UX, Node.js, microservices, and more. The results are regularly presented internally.

How we interact with each other

With each other at eye level

For us, respectful interaction is a top priority – whether you’re dealing with a client, your manager, or an intern. We do not want ego trips here. If you don’t want to be kind to others, we are the wrong employer for you. We meet everyone at eye level and practise this approach every day. If you need help and ask for it, you will get it: across every project and across every team. We see ourselves as a large team that only achieves the best results together.

This is also reflected in our understanding of leadership. We have flat hierarchies. Decisions are made by the people who have the best knowledge to do so. Our managers enable employees to develop their full potential. They encourage taking responsibility and trust that everyone makes the best decisions.

The mix makes the difference

Technologies, tools, methods

Our consultants use methods from digital design such as aRE, UCD, story mapping or design thinking to work out the path from the idea to the MVP. Our digital designers visualize ideas in big pictures and build a bridge between business requirements and their technological implementation. We research and test UX and UI trends.

Our software engineers are up and running with programming languages like Javascript, Typescript, Java, C#, Kotlin, Rust or Go and in frameworks like Angular, Node.js, Spring Boot. We build platforms for Industrial IoT and Smart Devices.

We live the DevOps approach, create containers with Docker, orchestrate them via the open-source platform Kubernetes and are a certified partner of all major cloud providers.

Security is our top priority, and we deal with security-by-design, security checks, code reviews, security audits, penetration tests, dynamic security tests and security guides (OWASP, BSI, NIST, SAST, DAST).

We develop apps and VR/AR applications for business clients from a wide range of industries. We understand software quality in a holistic sense, we test on the web and in the back-end in the domains of IoT and mobile. That is why we develop according to TDD criteria in all tech teams and attach particular importance to the CleanCode concept.

An initial selection first. You can explore for yourself just how broad our technology spectrum is: If you remain open-minded, curious, and inquisitive, you can be flexibly deployed in a wide variety of projects in which we work according to agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban. In the process, you can find out what you enjoy project by project.

Compatibility

Job and private life go hand in hand

Let’s not beat around the bush: the project business is heavily dependent on the specifications of our customers. Sometimes customers want us to be present on site or they specify meetings that are mandatory. There are also sometimes hot phases before a project is completed.

We create the framework for the greatest possible compatibility and flexibility so that you can still balance your job and private life as best as possible. Because each phase of your life places different demands on you.

In concrete terms, this means: Let’s assume you’re an early riser. Then you can start work at 6:30 a.m. and finish work earlier. A doctor’s appointment in the morning? If you don’t have any work appointments, no problem. Your family situation has changed and you want to adjust your hours? Reducing or increasing your hours is possible with us. When you’re not with the customer, you coordinate with your team when you’ll be in the office and when you’ll be working from home.
